I became a cop to help people. I found the work interesting, and many times I did help people. But far too often I felt like I was making people’s lives worse. And, I got tired of the dirty looks and attitude when I showed up to a call and, as is far too often the case, no one really wanted the police there. So I went to law school. That opened doors, but by luck, choice, and happenstance, I did not end up in a place where I could really make a difference in people’s day-to-day life.

Fast-forward a few years and I came to the realization that I could still make a difference, at least for a few people. So, I pulled together a team of great investigators and we got to work
